Our First Musical

Hey Guys! Kiani here:) Who's ready to talk musicals?

I thought that I'd start out with a classic, but one that isn't too classic because let's face it, those are boring.

So....here we go: GUYS AND DOLLS!!!!

I love this musical. It's sooo cute, and if you haven't seen it, don't fret my friends, there is a movie. But I must say, it isn't as good as the staged version. Even though it has Frank Sinatra.

Guys and Dolls was written by Joe Swerling and Abe Burrows with music and Lyrics by Frank Loesser. It premiered on Broadway in 1950 and had 1200 performances. It also won the Tony for Best Musical. A little synopsis would be that the show takes place in New York city where the nights are more alive than the days. The story focuses on four main characters: Sarah Brown, Sky Masterson, Miss Adelaide, and Nathan. Sarah is a Sargent for a mission and she has a run in with the sly and sexy gambler Sky Masterson. He bets her that he can fill her mission with one dozen "genuine sinners" if she agrees to go to dinner with him. Desperate to keep her mission above water, she agrees, and before she know it she has fallen in love with a man she never though would capture her heart, but what happens when she finds out that the reason Sky asked her out in the first place is because Nathan, the local crap game runner, bet him that he couldn't? WATCH IT AND FIND OUT!!!

Now Nathan is New York's floating crap game runner and he is engaged to the lovely Miss Adelaide who dances down at the Hot Box. Though Nathan has promised his fiancé that he's give up the game, when Sky Masterson roles into town he can't help but make a bet. So he bets that Sky can't get the mission doll, Sarah Brown, to go to Havana, yes Havana, Cuba, with him. Now of course, Nathan is sure he's gonna win, but so is Sky......ooooo, now your interested aren't you???

Seriously guys, this musical is so great, and it's really fun to be in also. But I urge you that if you go to see this live , PLEASE go to a good company because the show is long. And there is nothing worse than sitting through an awful show- trust.
